sorry for bad memory. I recall someone wanting to fly to Alaska and some discussion as to whether it was legal or not. A Canadian pilot and US aircraft etc. This may be of some help. I found it as I research a flight into US with my Kitfox.

US Light Sport Aircraft (LSA)
US-registered LSA’s can be operated in Canada by US pilots holding at least Private Pilot Certificate. A validation form http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/standards/maintenance-regsdocs- standardised_validation-2946.htm must be downloaded and carried on the aircraft at all times.
There are a few ways to register and fly a LSA in Canada but there are restrictions. A complete explanation is available at http://www.copanational.org/CAWMay10-1En.cfm.

The whole book can be downloaded from COPA or AOPA website. It is to big to attach to this form.

This problem I have is I am a certified Private Pilot, I quit going for my medical when I purchased a SLSA. Shortly after purchasing it, I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, so now I have to wait for a clean bill of Heath. According to the Canadian FAA, I have to have a current medical. See the Pilot documentation in the following. The Plane can fly through Canada, I can't fly a plane thru Canada.

Paul,
I understand your dilema. :( I had a very nice heavily modified Champ on floats that I wanted to fly to/from Canada for fishing. Since I live within an hours flight from the Canadian border, it was something I wanted to do for a day or weekend excursion. Unfortunately it wasn't the Canadians that I was going to have a problem with. It was our own idiotic countries rules. It ended up that I would be allowed back INTO the US without a valid medical. Now figure that one out! They wll let me fly around and acrossed the bourder but not let me return...and I am a leagally born citizen of this country. Rant over.
