Where is the best place to order Rotax parts? I ordered a part through California Power Systems before Christmas and haven't received it yet (back ordered). I called them just before New Years and they tell me that it won't ship until the end of February! With that being said, is this typical for Rotax parts or are there other vendors that we can use that are more responsive to our needs? Thanks for your response.

On another note, I will be in Phoenix, AZ Feb10 through Feb 14. The 10th and 14th I will be tied up with a couple of double headers that my grandson may be pitching in for Yavapai Community College. :) Any of you Kitfox jockies available for a visitor to see your project or flying machine the 11th, 12th or 13th? Would love to meet some of you that I have been following on this site since before I began my build.

Stan- I've had pretty good luck so far with our site sponsor L.E.A.F. in Wisconsin. I've ordered from then several times in the last couple months.
Had one item back ordered for a month but it was not a Rotax part so it wasn't as critical to getting back in the air.

I'll send you an email with my contact info. and see if we can meet up when your down here.

Stan, depending on what you are ordering this could be very common to have a long lead time. The logistics train from Austria to the US is somewhat convoluted depending on scheduled shipping containers. I was told once that the path leads through Canada. Since Rotax is a very lean company with little inventory on hand, often special ordered parts are manufactured on demand.

The gear set I replaced in my engine as an example of a non-stocked part that took well over 120 days to get manufactured and imported into the US.

What parts did you order?

I ordered the M5 x 180 Allen bolt that holds the starter in place. I broke one!

I think that metric bolt should be available in US without going to Rotax.

Have you tried Aircraft Spruce?

If it goes through Canada first try Rotech Research out of Vernon. They are the authorized guys up here. The owner is a good guy and was actually one of the guys that put in the rotax in the one week wonder
