Rotax 618

Hello All

I can buy a new rotax 618,but I have read that they are no longer in production
Does anyone have experience with this type of rotax?


I will use it on my KF3

Hi Eric, I looked into the 618 at one time it was really hard finding much information on the engine, I came to the conclusion that it was not one of Rotax's better engines, and I read some where that the rave valve doesn't really work that well in the aircraft operating ranges (I had originally thought it would be a good deal). The exhaust may also be an issue to install in the Kitfox cowl.

One of our club members ( who works for Bombardier in R&D) had a 618 on his Chinook . After two years of eating rave valves he swapped it out for a 582. Nuf said.
