Rather than using tape to seal the gaps for the flaperon tube or the leading edge of the stabilizer I had seen a method in the past on some vintage airplanes that may work.
The seal looks like two opposing paint brushes, and with the flexibility of bristles the tube will move up and down with ease.

Anyone out there know where to find such a thing?
45 hours on my newly built SuperSport and loving the Desser 22" tundra tires. Jeff

Just a though, what about the weather seal strip that they put at the bottom and edges of doors in houses?

I'm not sure where to get it other than the airplane manufactures but what you describe is used on the Learjet 40 and Challenger 300 I fly to seal the ailerons and elevators. It's like a soft bristled brush.
