I'm still planning on flying there in the Cherokee!

I'll be arriving Monday and leaving Saturday morning by van pulling my trusty 1984 Jayco 25 foot trailer. I love camping in the camp ground and meeting so many great aviators. By the time I arrive at Airventure my SS7 kit will have been delivered to my house and I will have lots of questions and will be filling up my camera card for sure. I have been thinking of building this kit ever since I first saw the Avid flyer years ago. The wait has been long a few planes before this one but the desire has never left me for this aircraft. Is there going to be a Kitfox gathering this year for lunch or dinner, love to bend some ears.

I plan to fly my Fox from Austin, Tx. My 4th trip to Osh in 73BH. Plan to arrive early to avoid the rush. I'll be camping in Homebuilt Camping. I'll have beer if you want to stop by in the evenings.

I'll be there all week... it'll be the 17th time in my Thorp T-18. Hope to see & visit with all the Kitfox guys. I'll probably spend a lot of time hanging around the Kitfox tent.

I'll be there all week, too. Planning on getting in on Saturday(7-26), staying though Sunday (8-3).

I'll be parked with the rest of the "cowboys" down at the ultralight field, camping across the street. :)

I too will be there all week working with Aero-News Network. Stop by the trailer (north of the tower) and say howdy. Don't miss the show streamed each evening highlighting each days happenings. http://www.aero-news.net/index.cfm

If you know of any news-worthy events or happenings...give me a heads up. AirVenture is so big I know there are stories missed each year.
This year should be a good one!

Well I've got a room at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.
I'm working on my Flight plan, and thanks to the Kitfoxer that posted the MoGas Link, I should be able to get MoGas on the way up and back. Now all I need is good flying weather, the Grace of God, and I'll see you in Oshkosh.

I look forward to seeing everyone again. My plane will be parked down by the Ultralight area, my cell phone number will be on the prop tag.

Don't be shy. Give me a call or text. :D

I've made day trips to Oshkosh many times over the years, but this will be my first overnight/camping with the plane (ss7). I would like to be where most of the kitfoxes are and I am reading that several of you will be at the ultralight camping as opposed to the homebuilt camping area. What are the pros and cons of these two area?

Av8r3400
07-11-2014, 01:53 PM
In order to park at the ultralight/light sport area on the south end you need to fly into that field. That's a new rule for this year. It's a tight 1200' strip, your SS can do it, no problem, but that's up to you.

Most of the Kitfoxers park in home built camping (dispersed as you arrive) or home built display, near the flight line just south of the warbirds (no camping)

I'll be having a little dinner get together at my campsite (Camp 75) on Friday evening after the airshow, open to any fellow TeamKitfox-ers who may want to join in. I'm just across the street from the Ultralight Red Barn.

Sent me a pm if you are interested so I will be sure to have enough food on hand, I'll send my cell number and directions.

Hoping to make Osh this year for a couple days. Plan to camp to get the whole Osh experience hope to meet some of the people that have been so helpful on the forum to put a name with a face. Will be watching the weather closely as to when I will be there so not sure when I will leave. When it comes to weather I have turned into a wuss.

I arrived on the 25th (yesterday)... it was just looking like a better flying day than the next few for me coming from Denver. Weather's been good here today - overcast skies & a nice breeze. Skies cleared this afternoon, but they're talking about rain tonight & into the morning, then getting better again. I wish those heading here blue skies & tailwinds.

Just a reminder to those of you who were unable to make this years OshKosh...There is a daily update in video (Airborne) and many written stories on the AirVenture happenings at http://www.aero-news.net . This year there are about 11 photo journalists and 5 videographers trying to cover as much as possible to bring everyone the aviation flavors of each day.

I'm looking forward to meeting many of you that are here tomorrow evening.

I'm home again. I flew out on my short, 1.5 hour hop just in time for the little blow that went through OSH, I hope everyone weathered that one okay.

I would like to thank everyone who came down to my little mixer on Friday. We had a nice little cookout then went over to watch the STOL demonstration at the Ultralight Field.

I hope we can do it again next year.

As a side note, I'd love to see some more Kitfoxes at the LSA-Ultralight strip. You can camp right at your plane and fly every day off the grass strip. We shouldn't allow the Highlander guys get all the attention…

That was one week that really flew by.
Had a great time at AirVenture meeting many TeamKitfoxers. Talked to so many folks interested in this aircraft. So fun to see old friends and put faces with online names.

A big thanks to John and Debra, Brandon and Heather, Paul Zimmerman, Paul and Terri Ledabrand and Phil Laker and to all our members that stopped by the booth to say hello and talk Kitfox.

It was great to get around and visit with all our Forum sponsors again and meet our newest, L.E.A.F.

Low and Slow Flying home fro Oshkosh, I departed at 8:31 AM from Oshkosh, and after dodging a few rain storms made it to Mesquite Texas at 7:35 PM. I had a great time going to visit and meet John & Debra Mc Bean, Brandon & Heather Peterson, Paul & Terri Leadabrand, Steve Kellendar, Larry Av8r3400, (I am having a Senior moment and can't remember his last name, but everyone knows Av8r3400) and Phil Laker. I must admit it is a great bunch of people. I walked until I could not walk any more. I went and had Brats with Larry and the gang and watched the STOL exhibition at the Ultralight area. I really enjoyed meeting, all of the other kitfoxers! Thanks all to thew great experience! the picture is not rotated 90 Degees on my computer but it rotated it when I posted it?????

To John and Deb…

I have a new found respect for the factory folks like Kitfox that go to Oshkosh to put on the show.
It takes a lot of effort to get the aircraft to OSH, set up a booth and man it for 8 days.

This year I was asked by the American Legend factory to fly a Super Legend Cub to OSH and answer questions at the display. Sounds simple. It not.

Flying to OSH as part of a five ship formation was fun but after 9 hours in two days you really need a day to recover. No time for that… It’s show time!!!

It’s hard work standing on concrete all day, ducking under the wing in the rain, standing in the sun when it’s not raining and repeating the same spiel hour after hour. By 5 PM you’re only interested in food, a frosty cold beverage and some sleep.

Sure, I got a free trip to Airventure with a little time each day to see some of the vendors but it was a real eye opener of just how much work is involved. Oh, yeah… I got a free polo shirt and a hat, too. Not a bad deal.

I never did get a chance to get to the Kitfox booth. So to John and Deb, a big howdy from Texas and a big thanks for being there to be part of the show. I hope to see you next year.

May we all get some well deserved rest

John Pitkin,

I concur, it is a big effort. I flew from Mesquite Texas to put my plane in the Kitfox Booth. It took me two days to get their the first day I was dodging storms over Paris Texas, ended up flying to Norma, OK and Spending the evening with my daughter. Then Thursday I got up at 7:30 am and landed in Oshkosh at 4:30 pm, definitely a long day. On the way back left Oshkosk at 8:30 approximately, and landed in Mesquite at 7:32 PM, 11 hours of dodging storms, 3 stops to drain the bladder and gas up so about 8 hours of flight. I really had a great time. Yes it is a hard task, and John & Debbie got two planes up theirs Johns and the Mule.

Paul Z
