I'm looking for a little help. I have this awesome black, foam rubber seal between the top of the cowl and the windshield on my yellow Kitfox. I want to use the same product on my project plane but I'll be darned if I can find it anywhere.

The picture below shows what the material looks like in cross section. It is glued to the inside of the cowl lip and the rubber then seals to the windshield.

Has anyone seen this or know what I'm talking about??

Almost looks like garage door weatherstrip with the addition of a glue strip?

Larry,
McMaster Carr might have what your looking for. I know they have a lot of rubber seal options. Just a thought.

Garage door bottom seal with one side cut off. That's what I used and it looks like your example. Glued to the cowling with "ole yellow" gasket adhesive. Can get a pic if needed.

What are the dimensions?

I'd gladly look at any photos of what you use to seal the cowl to the windshield. All ideas welcome.

The dimensions of this are, approximately 3" overall length, 1-1/2" exposed above the cowl and the same glues inside the cowl lip. The thickness at its maximum is between 3/8 and 1/4".

I know this doesn't answer your question, but if you can't find what you're looking for, this is what I used from Aircraft Spruce.

we used clear silicone to seal the windshield to the boot cowl, tape off the boot cowl and the windshield and use a caulking gun and force some caulk between cowl and windshield and over caulk a little bit on top, then use a piece of ice to take off the excess caulk and smooth out the line. pull the tape off after using the ice and your done.
