I'm a bit of a die hard FSX user, and I have been for around 25 years now (Started at version 3 if I remember.. anyway)

I noticed that there is no Kitfox for FSX, and seeing as I cant fly my aircraft at the moment I decided to model it with the 582. This way I can fly a virtual version as much as I want.

So, heres a peek at the progress so far. See my user profile for pics of the actual aircraft.

Cheers!

A bit more development over the weekend. Now its to fine tuning and adding more detail.

I need someone with a stock Kitfox 4 with the 582 in it to give me some performance figures. Take off runs, airspeed (knots ias) at different rpms, climb rates.

At the moment this is its current performance (1500 ft)

71 kts @ 6500 RPM.
60 kts @ 5600 RPM
700 fpm climb at 50 kts

Is this about correct without speed fairings?

It has got to work better now that it has a propeller :)

I just bought a used IV and I think the flight log has all the specs. He was a meticulous builder and test pilot. If you PM me your email, I can scan and email you some figures. I may have to load my old sim on my computer so I can fly my "new" airplane.

It just flies better with a prop.

That is cool, you should model the windshield as the smoke grey. It looks a little odd not to have anything for a windshield, but still cool. I never could get into the Microsoft Flight System. If I spent too much time playing what my wife considers a game at the computer before my wife would start complaining. It would be cool to fly a Kitfox on the simulator.

What software program do you use to build the models?

I use X Plane since I have a Mac and FSX is now gone. I mostly use it for instrument training as I am slowly working towards my rating. It comes in handing when you can recruit your wife to teach you everything in your living room.

X Plane comes with a plane editor. I am hoping someone comes out with a 7 but I may have to build one.

I'll have to look at XPlane. There is Model 4 & Model 5 simulations available for MS aircraft simulator. If you ever get the 7 post it.

Seems like you could modify the 5 into a 7 pretty easily.

I was thinking I'd just fly the 5

I came across the Kitfox for FSX to get a plane as close to mine as possible to practice rudder inputs. While I am completing my plane. My 582 seized up just after I bought it so I am putting in a Suzuki GT10 AT that has very similar performance figures to the Rotax 912 ULS. Is there a possibility for a upgrade for this Kitfox on FSX please:)
