What setup for baggage restraint ?

Hi,
I am wondering what people have / use , to hold cargo secure in the baggage compartment area.

What setup do you have?

I put 6 (3 per side) small tie-down brackets bolted thru the baggage floor. Then I bought one of those 6-pronged bungee assemblies to go over the cargo and hook into the brackets on the floor. Of course I can also use single bungees or ropes depending on the size and shape of the baggage.

None for me. (Baggagesack, plywood bottom).
Although I do have some pockets sewn in the Side-panels for small stuff that had to be reachable.

My baggage set-up is another one off thing. I made the floor of laminated foam fiberglass with aluminum angle perimeter with slots for velcro straps. The sides are cordura and strap to the floor. I have tie down tabs on each corner and the plan is a bungee secured net set-up to keep stuff off the ceiling during turbulance.

I used drawer pulls. Reinforced them below baggage floor with large fender washers.

I replaced the AN bolts that hold the floor to the welded tabs on my Series 5 with AN eyebolts that allow bungee hooks to go thru and then over the baggage. To be honest in 10 years of flying my kitfox I haven't needed them. Bruce N199CL

At each of the locations where the baggage floor (Kitfox supplied) is bolted down, I have used loops of flat nylon strap from our camping store, with large diameter washers under the bolt head. I plan to use these with cargo straps/netting.

How is the weight off the floor...+\-
It is because i starting to make a floor plate in aluminum...it is a 3/16" aluminum plate with 7/8 hole at each 1 1/4" the original weight is 9 pounds...so i dont know how is gone be after drilling all holes....:confused:

aluminum depending on it's composition (alloys imbedded) has different weights..the more pure the alloy the lighter it is..here is an example on how to figure what it will weigh

Metric density (g/cm³) x D² x L x π / 4000 weight Example: 2.80 g/cm³ x 20 mm² x 1 m x π / 4000 = 0.880 kg

Imperial density (lbs/in³) x D² x L x π / 4 weight Example: 0.101 lbs/in³ x 0.75 in² x 12 in x π / 4 = 0.536 lbs

so with this example we know .75" or 3/4" x 12" round stock weighs 0.536 lbs

1" round stock would weigh 0.952 lbs at 12" it's not as easy as taking the difference in the thickness's to get exact numbers but it will be close as far as questimations go,.. .875" will weigh close to 0.700 at 12"

.1885 = 3/16" take 12" divided by .1885= 63.6605 ( rounded off)63.7
0.700 / 63.7= .0101 again rounded off,..take .0101 x amount of holes,..this will give you a very close guestimation of what 3/16" plate X the amount of holes subtracted from 9 lbs will weigh

if its 75 holes..75 x.0101 =.7575 lbs,, 9 -.7575= 8.2425 lbs

I put in a bunch of eye bolts, and use a motorcycle cargo net, and bungee cords
to secure everything that I don't need to fly the plane. I had the baggage
sack unload on me one time in flight ... It will never happen again ... Just think
pencils, maps, water bottles, chocks, etc. on the glareshield and ceiling and
you will get the idea.

Model 4 fabric baggage sack. Adel clamps each corner one inside and one outside secured with one bolt. The outside clamps secured to fuselage tubing to keep the bag from shifting or moving. parachute cord through the inside clamps to tie baggage down.

The small, slit in the back of the bag to stick my finger through to turn off the elt when trailering.
