We (me and my partner) are getting on with the installation, extending the engine cowl.

Marking and cuting the top cowl.

5862

Fitting flat stock alluminum between the parts of the top cowl and making fiberglass layups first from the outside

5863

and then from the inside.

Lots of cowling work there ofergd. Looks good.

The 912iS is quite the economical engine. Hope you like it.
Thanks for the photos and I hope we see more of your install and build.
Best of luck.

just wondering . does the longer engine mount come with the firewall forward kit or was the mount made locally ? how's this going to affect the cg ? sure will be a distinctive looking model IV .

The longer engine mount was localy made. It is conected to the ring mount that comews with the engine. See previos post.

So today we have to change the title of this post. It shoud now read 912iS Sport on a KF-IV.:)
Today we made the change to the engine airbox and started it. We got help from a Rotax technician. Because the modification had a due date, we accelerated our work, finished the fuel system (with a temporary tank), finished plumbing for water and oil, made a temporary electric control panel and charged the battery and the engine started with a computer screen monitoring all relevant parameters.
It was a long day but with great satisfaction.
Pictures will follow.

I'd take that plastic header tank and throw it about as far as you can get it.. It will leak... if not now at some point in the future..

I second the throwing away of the plastic header tank.
Fortunately I already had the aluminum one on hand the day the plastic leaked.
I like the extended engine mount if the CG allows.
I recently had to remove the 912 on my model 4 to change the starter and your mount would most likely not require doing that.
