I just bought a model IV with a 582 that is most likely junk. How much $ and work would it take to convert to a 912? It has the round cowl by the way.

If you buy a new 912 and the FWF package from Kitfox about $26,000 plus a prop and gauges.

Any engine supported by the factory will bolt on to the model 4.

I've got a 912 80hp FWF with the entire package for KF4. 400 hours with log book. Serial #4400083. removed from a Searey for power upgrade. In New York State. Call Tom 607-895-6168

I found a 150 hour 912 UL I put on my new Model IV for about $7000. I think that is the way I would go again. I built my own engine mount, but they are available from Kitfox. I used a quad gauge from Westach. It has all the engine gauges - about $600. You will also need to do some fiberglass work to get the cowl to fit. I've done it a couple of times and doable at home. Folks are always trying new props so a used one should be available with some searching. So something around $10,000 I would guess.

Lowell is about dead on right. I replaced the 582 in my KFIII with a 912. You can do it for a little under 10,000 if your lucky. The mount, exhaust pipes and muffler are the hardest parts to find used. New from Kitfox they are pricey!
