I am putting this out there for any of the longer legged people in case it can help someone out. Since I have had my KF 4, I have always had an issue with the location of the throttle. I guess I have an extra long Femur or something because in order for my right knee to clear the throttle, I have to have my right leg sprawled to the right to get under the throttle. The problem is my right calf now covers the flap control. Here lately I have been wanting to start landing with some flaps which is impossible to do with the throttle in the factory location, so I relocated the throttle to the bottom of the main panel. It's similar to the way the SS7 is set up. It's like a new plane now! My knee clears the throttle and I am able to rotate my right leg up now to clear the flap handle and clear the throttle no problem. Don't know why I didn't do this a long time ago. I had to move my intercom over a bit and relocate the low fuel light and the Aux fuel pump switch but overall, not a big job. Pics below, hairy legs and all.

Have to keep knee under the throttle, but it's over the flap handle.

Jerrytex,
It looks like it belongs there. (Both the throttle and the knee!)

That's a common problem with such a simple fix but we need that "Eureka
moment sometimes to get to the solution.:)
Thanks for posting.

Has anybody ever put a throttle quadrant on the center console?

I agree it is a good fix and probably qualifies for a "What took me so long" award. What struck me with the story has to do with the frequently asked question - I am (enter height here), Will I fit in a Model IV. I always think of my six six friend who when we are sitting next to each other we are at eye level. Most of his height is in his legs.

Regarding center consols. This might be one reason to not have one. I have been tempted to submit a picture of my clean console area in the "Show Us" thread. I sure like to be able to move around a bit on a long flight.

Has anybody ever put a throttle quadrant on the center console? Yes. Murle Williams designed one years ago. Mike Gibbs had it on his sweet Model 4-1200 he built in Murle's shop right next to mine. He liked it. It was an interesting set up. Took a little thought to make it work.
I don't have a photo of the throttle set up though.:o
Mike's model 4. (http://www.teamkitfox.com/Forums/album.php?albumid=15&pictureid=452)

Murle's putting it on his new Model 7 .
