For those that want to follow along we decided to post the spot link for our trip to Oshkosh.

General route is from Homedale, through the Tetons into Wyoming and we'll see how far we decide to go.. then on towards Oshkosh somewhere south of I-90 towards Sioux Falls and onto Minnesota.. guess we'll see. Always looking for cool places to stop.. so if there are any suggestions for lunch stops with grass strips.....:)

We are departing on Wednesday July 24th... and returning on August 5th.

Have a safe flight Col. I'll be tracking your progress. Take lots of order forms.;)

If you get near my hometown stop in at Blue Earth, Mn. (KSBU) just 18 miles east.
Self-serve 100LL AV-Gas on the field.

Looks like they are approaching Albert Lea, Mn.
Big storm approaching Albert Lea, Austin, Rochester area so they best get on the ground soon and tie down and hang on.

Anyone else having trouble getting the Spot link to work on John and Deb's trip. I get nothing.

Looks like the storm front is progressing east southeast away from Austin.

Interesting Midwest storm.. Yes it was right in our ars@&$ as someone said. Very uplifting.... 1000+ fpm up with 10-15 degree nose down.
Bruce at Austin has been very helpful in years past while traveling to Oshosh. We tucked to aircraft away in 3 different hangars and got the courtesy car.
Good food and drink and now looks like smooth sailing for the next couple of hours to Oshkosh.... As soon as this low scud layer burns off.

Saw the blue/white and yellow/white KF7's playing today. Several T/O and landings in pretty gusty conditions, handled it much better than most of the heavier certified arrivals.

Safe ride the rest of the way home, John, Deb & Company.
(Some day soon I hope to head out that way!)

We'll see you next year for sure. I'll keep up a flying presence for you down on the farm with the rest of the cowboys, too... :)

Thanks for the support down at the other end of the field... Fun watching the 582 powered Kitfox taking off and landing just as short as......

Actually would have made it all the way home...:) At 10500 getting ready to cross over Yellowstone the iS had a flashing fault light.... So we turned back to Cody for a precautionary landing and inspection. Found the EGT probe socket had completely blew out of the exhaust..:( We are going to try for a repair in the morning. Fingers crossed...
