I had to bevel the top edges of mine to smooth the transition from the tank to the rib. Like yours, it was also about 1/8 inch higher on the edge near the number 1 rib. That's really all I think you could do since removing enough material from the tank to bring it perfectly in line could harm the integrity of the tank. The fabric was glued to the top of the tank as well.

As Geowitz says the tanks do sit a little above the ribs.

Here are two pictures of how this looks as we covered the wings with fabric.

I plan on going out to the airport to close up my plane after the inspection, I can get a photo while I am out there. Mine is above the ribs as well. My plane is 703KA, it is the first SLSA John built. I will try to get a good shot or two.

I will have to post the second photo after I post this one, the software does not want to allow me to post two pictures.
You can see a ridge line on both these shots.

Second photo, not as clear but you can see the ridge was feathered or chamfered. FYI, that is the Leading Edge of the Wing.

Don't sand through the Fiber Glass mesh, it is the structural flange tank mounting. If you sand through the glass it will weaken the mounting flange.
