Looking for help...
Chad and I are looking to take our two Kitfoxes to Oshkosh on straight skis for their ski fly-in in January. I think it could take some planning so I decided that November 1st was my start date.

We are starting just north of Spokane, WA for the 1350 miles to Oshkosh.

We need places that are safe to land along the way with skis, and maybe help with getting to gas, etc.

We will be heading across Montana, N. Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
We would hope to make it to Bismarck, ND the first day. We could be starting a few days early to take advantage of good weather.

We could also be looking for safe places to tie-down near electricity for the night.

Right now I am just looking for any ideas. I have a lot of ski experience and a lot of winter cross-country, but that does not mean that I can do it alone.
I sure hope to lean on the Kitfox community.

I hope this will be fun for all of us!

I'm in northern Mn, and have a grass strip that I fly out of in the winter on skis. I'm probably north of your route though as I'm about 80 miles S of the Canadian border. Hibbing is the largest close town to me. (10mi.) Let me know if I can help. Just checked, and Oshkosh is about 275 na. miles from me. We have alcohol free premium gas at some of the stations in Mn. if that matters to you. That's what I run in the Avid. Take care, Jim Chuk

If you happen to overshoot Oshksh and find yourself on mid Michigan, you are welcome to stay at our place. We have a 2200' grass strip (very smooth) and we live on the runway. I built and am flying an RV-10, and am building a Rotec Radial SS7.

What skis do you have? I'm looking to purchase some in the (near) future.

Hi, I have the Summit Aircraft Skis ( Sponsor at Left) they are a fixed wheel ski and are super. To be equipped to land on pavement or on a snow field, the option is real nice. I recommend checking them out.;)

I'd be happy to host you or provide support at Syvrud (7WI5) just S of Madison. I might put on the skis and head up to Osh this year myself.
