The rudder horns for the optional adjustable rudder pedal installation
come modified with a lower hole but on page 83,appendix A, section A, it says
This modification may have already been done.
Does this mean I don't need to shorten the horns further and let
The pulleys ride between the powder coated sides? Seems smooth.
Thanks

With the adjustable rudder pedal option, the distance between the torque tube and the pulley holes is 2 inches. Your torque tubes may have longer horns with a second set of pulley holes at about 4 inches up from the torque tube. If so, you should remove the longer portion of the pedal horns leaving a 3/8 inch radius around the lower pulley holes. If the horns were already shortened by the factory, there is no need to do anything.

If you leave the extended horns attached, there is a (very remote) possibility the cable retaining strap could pivot around and pinch the horns together restricting the pulley. Barring that remote scenario, the reasons to remove the excess length are weight and appearance. Installed with the proper hardware there is no other mechanical reason to shorten the horns.

So why not do it? A few seconds with a saw and a touch up on the belt sander will finish the job.
