Put the Garmin GDL-39 ADSB receiver in and suspended XM. So far it works great with the 696 and pass through info for the Dynon. Appears to have less resolution on weather data but more than enough for me (includes winds aloft). Should pay for itself in a little over a year.

I am in the process of doing the same thing in my RV-10. I have a SkyView and a 696 too. Bought the GDL-39 at Oshkosh amd working on a permanent mount. Are you saying the Garmin will send the wx info to the Skyview thru the serial lines? That would be sweet but my expectation is that I'd only see WX on the 696.

Thanks

The wx info will only show on the 696 but GPS info will be passed through.

I picked up a new Garmin 500 and the Garmin GDL-39 ADSB receiver at Oshkosh and flew it from Oshkosh to Phoenix. Worked pretty good for weather but as stated here the resolution is not quite up to XM's level. It got me around some pretty nasty thunderstorms in New Mexico and Arizona.

Just one question, Do you know if it will work on the garmin 396?

Not for Weather, yes for traffic but that may be of limited value at this point.
