Start date 6/12/11 completed 4/10/12 about 1400 man hours.
I would say our Kitfox is about as close to factory built as a home builder can make it. We found very little to change as we went along in the build.
In ordering our kit we took full advantage of factory know how and had the wings factory built and matched to the fuselage. That was a big jump on the project and we feel was well worth the money.

I think we ordered every option but wheel pants when we placed the order. When we installed cabin heat, we did add a valve with a control in the panel to stop the water from going through the cabin heat exchanger and an inline thermostat in the radiator hose which works very well.

As for performance we are seeing 113 mph in cruise at 5300 rpm, the prop is pitched for climb at this time for those beach landings.
In the panel we used the Garmin g3x with the 330 transponder with traffic and SL-40 com. By using the g3x with the engine and flight instruments all in one, it left a lot of un-unsed panel space so instead of installing a glove box with a door, we fabricated an open box just to throw things in, also tilted the box down about 15 degrees and maid the opening a 1/4" smaller for a lip to hold things in.

The paint scheme is by Jim Hunter and we get a lot of complements on it.
Thanks again to TeamKitfox forum as it is a wealth of information and a great bunch of guys who are always ready to help with a question.

That looks just beautiful... nice going, you guys! :) It does make me feel like a real slug... I think mine could have been flying by now. I should be able to do some covering this summer.

That is nice! I love your panel. Very clean and efficient looking. The glove box with a lip is a great idea.

I just finally got around to your Kitfox of the Month. I have to say I love the YELLOW it kind of screams SEE ME, SEE ME and the Paint scheme is excellent. Great looking bird!

Thanks Paul, got about 250 hr,s on it now and still loving it. Teaching my 13 year old granddaughter to fly it and the adjustable rudder pedals work great for us. She likes to fly my 182 but I told her she had to learn to fly a t/w before she would be a real pilot. Here she is looking out the waste gunner window of the eaa b17 we took a ride in at KSUT this October.

I just love women comfortable with a belt fed weapon! 😃

You have a beautiful Granddaughter. I had my Kitfox converted to a tail Dragger. I don't think it flies much different, but I did pick up some airspeed. My only concern with teaching her to fly you tail Dragger is she might scratch the paint, the ground loops seem to happen to a lot of new and old pilots. Merry Christmas & Happy New year!
