Not too much to say, but today I tried out my new Carb-Mate to sync the carbs on my Rotax 912ULS.

The procedure was fairly simple, just took a few turns of one side of the throttle cable to dial it in. Then a touch of idle screw adjustments and it was good to go. Amazing how much difference it makes to have them balanced. It's been a year since I last balanced them and I was starting to feel a rough shake when throttling back between 2500 - 3900 rpm. That's all gone now.

Hi,

I use the same device, works well. I was just curious what rpm you sync at ? there are some that go higher than the recommended rotax rpm.

I was targeting 2200 RPM for the balance. I noticed that over about 3500 it naturally balanced from there on up. I found between 2000 - 2800 was the range that needed it. Then idle was also off which took some tweaking with one or the other idle stop screws.

I balance mine at 2500 RPM

Another question. How often do you all balance your carbs?

Mine stayed the same for 3 years, then this last year drifted out until I could feel the roughness in flight at low RPM.

About twice a year for me and I also balance ~2200 then check it does not drift off too far at higher and lower rpms.
