Hello everyone. I'm new here, learning about Kitfox planes, possibly LSA (as I believe in the future of that category), and yet also with a radial engine.

I think I see online that the S7 is LSA? And would that still be LSA with a Rotac R2800?

Because it makes me think.

102kg is 225 pounds for the engine, dry. Kind of a big frontal area at 31" diameter, which would impact performance. But it will turn a big prop. Never heard of a radial Kitfox, even though the cowl has a radial simulator. It could be LSA if you can work it all out, and keep it at 1320 max gross. With the empty weight about 800 that would leave 520 useful load. I think most series 7 are registered at 1550 though, with an extra 230 useful load.

Surely you haven't forgotten the "Lindy" winner just because it's been re-engined.

It makes for a beautiful airplane that's guaranteed to turn heads; it's just not the best performance match for the frame. Sometimes that's not the end goal though.

I have a friend that is selling a new, with all options even has the fuel injection (throttle body?), Rotec 2800 if anyone is looking. He is asking $14,000. I was going to purchase it but have too many projects already!!!

I would be interested in learning more about the Rotac for sale. When it was purchased, what exactly comes with it, why is he selling, where is it located, etc. Please contact me off list at mike at wolflakeairport dot net.

Thanks
