Howdy alll;

On my kitfox 4, I have a bunch of rod end bearings. The kit is 12 years old, but never started and some ball joints of the male and female threaded end bearings are very stiff. I think I can force grease into the female end bearings, but what about the male? There is no grease fiting and they are stiff????

Do I soak them in oil or something?

any ideas?

Thanks

Roger

Hey Rodger. I see you didn't get any reponses as yet. There are a bunch of good guys on this site, however they may be headed to or getting ready to head out to Oshkosh. I'm sure you will get an answer to your question.

Ya, that's me too, we are leaving Saturday morning for Oshkosh too.
I am going to try and find some matching rod ends with the greese nipple installed, if I can find them at Oshkosk, otherwise, the manufacture says the ball is oil impregnated, so I might just soak them in light oil, but right now it sure does not look or feel like it to me.

Roger, Kitfox recomends and sells CRC Silicone spray lube for the rod ends. You just spray it on the bearing on both the male and female rod ends. Not in the female thread ends, that won't lube the bearing.
