Who supplies the solid aluminum tail springs for the Kitfox 5?
The one listed in the Kitfox parts pdf says "steel leaf spring" but I want
the solid aluminum one like my KF3 has.

I bought the aluminum tailwheel gearstrut for my Model IV Speedster directly from the factory about ten years ago; give John and Debra a jingle with your question. I'm betting they have an answer for you!

Got mine through the old factory (skystar). It came from Grove. You will need something other than a solid wheel or it will beat you to death. The alminum tailspring is stiff.

Why? because they look nice and i hadn't heard of any failures..... is it true Grove decided to stop supplying these?

Hi I think you better do a bit more research I've head of a number of alum tail springs failing and not just on Kitfox's a friend og mine had 2 fail on his Fisher Super Koala he ended up installing a steel one no more problems. That being said there are any number of alum spring that go the distance also.

I have one but it is for a model IV. I do not know if they are the same or not. I did not like it as it was to rough on grass with a solid tail wheel. If you find out that it will work I would sell cheap.

Thx everyone - turns out this tailspring I have IS (as verified by Kitfox) is one of theirs. My main concern was that it was off something heavier, but since it's the right spring (and the prev owner is mailing me the original alum spring) then I'll just run this steel spring for now and see how I like it. Thanks!
