View Full Version : VIJA Engines on a Kitfox 2
I'm studying if it's possible to install this new engine on a Kitfox 2.
I have now a 582 the new one heavier: 187 lbs. Is anybody knows how measuring the distance of the engine's gravity center to keep the GC of the aircraft in the same place ?

That's a very heavy engine for any of the early Kitfox models (1-2-3-4-1050), if your thinking of a good 4 stroke 60 hp replacement engine why not consider the HKS it weighs 137 lbs installed fuel consumption is 3 gph TBO is 1000 hrs.
Why not but i heard that HKS less powerful than 582 ?

The HKS is 60 hp I find it equal to the 582 in my model III, cruise increased fuel burn went down to 3 gph, it must have the right prop on it just as any engine, the Warp Drive serves me well the Aerolux seems to be a good one many used the Powerfin prop. Remember the 582 as installed in the Kitfox with the modified exhaust system produces 60 / 62 hp with a fuel consumption of 4.5 gph aqnd only has a 300 TBO, The operating cost of the HKS 700E is 1/2 of the 582, if you really feel you need more hp the HKS 700T produces 80 HP.
