Series 7 elevator

Has anyone filled the gap between the horizontal and elevator on a Series 5, 6 or 7, and if you have did the elevator get any lighter during flight???

I have the S-5 and had the original elevator on it which is did put gap tape between the Horiz stab and elevator, made some difference but only slightly on the flare, I have since put on the larger S-7 elevator and it made a significant difference. I have not yet put on the gap tape but I do intend to.
