Bonjour from France.

Finaly, I have bought a Series 5 Vixen with a 80 hp 912 UL.

The engine is now close to 600 ttsn and 10 years old and I have bought a 100 hp 912 ULS.

I think I cant use my original engine mount and I need your help and expertise to know what I have to do :

- use my engine mount, coolings and exhaust
- use a new firewall forward
- or???

Thanks for your help

I had a series 5 Vixen with 80 hp 912. When I changed to
the 100 hp the upper bars on the engine mount were a little
short at the gear box. New ones let me use the main mount
and everything else firewall forward. A friend of mine also
changed to a 100 hp Rotax and he purchased the model 7
motor mount and cowls because he liked the looks. Sorry I
missed your first post.

Hello Phil
I also have a Vixen c/w 912UL (80HP). About 30 hours ago I changed from a GSC to a 70" IVO IFA and am very impressed with the performance difference just due to the IFA feature.
Did you find much of a performance boost when changing to the 100HP 912? Was the capital cost and additional fuel usage worth it. Our home field is at 1100 feet and most of my flying is through mountain passes at less than 7000 ft. so I expect the 80HP should be good enough for an old guy.
Care to comment?

Hi Don

I flew over 700 hours with the 80, including trips
cross country and to Alaska. Never had a problem.
Then one day Desert Fox 4 and I loaded camping
gear and luggage and headed for Oshkosh. A fuel
stop at noon at 7000' made me wish for long wings
or more horsepower. Just fine after we got out of
that valley, but I did install the 100 912. Better
climb and about 5 knots higher cruise. More fuel!
Since I fly mostly solo and low and slow, the 80 hp
would be just fine for this old guy.
