Plans call for extending door reinforcement strip to outer edge of plexiglass, then gluing weatherstrip to the door reinforcement strip. This then seals against door frame. Other Series 5 Kitfoxes I have seen have the weatherstrip on the door frame, sealing against the plexiglass. Also: best way to attach plexiglass to door? Rivnuts allow screws that don't penetrate inner tubing of door; any experience of Rivnuts coming loose (minimal torque)?

Foxbob, we just had a discussion about mounting windows (doors); see the General Discussion topic "Replacing windows-glue or rivets?"

Thanks; I did read the discussion before I entered my thread. The discussion did not address whether the weatherstrip should go on the inside of the plexiglass or on the outside of the door frame, nor did it make any mention of rivnuts rather than drilling through both sides of the door and using a nut on the inside, as I have seen done. I do not think that blind rivets are a good idea, as they put significant pressure on the plexiglass and expand in the holes, which could lead to cracks. Glue is great if 1) it holds indefinitely despite heat and light, 2) you never want to remove the plexiglass, and 3), you get it perfect on the first try. Rivnuts would let you control the pressure of screws in slightly oversized holes to protect the plexiglass; my concern is that rivnuts could loosen and rotate.
