"Have you ever wondered what it would be like to build an airplane that actually flies? Aviation professor Teresa Sloan and air plane builder Tom Jones will explain the basic principles of flight and show you how to "Preflight" an actual airplane."

This is the description of one of 22 sessions 650 participants at the 19th annual "Expanding Your Horizons" event could choose from. The event was sponsored March 6 by Central Washington University. The event is designed to help fifth-ninth grade girls explore careers in which women have historically been underrepresented.

Our local EAA chapter has several CWU professors as members including some in the Aviation department. My kitfox was used as a visual aid this year.

The girls could choose four of the events to attend. About 140 chose aviation.

I think that is just great Tom,.salutes to you.

In Newport NH ,.parlin field , the first week end of each month was open house to Dartmouth College students that were interested in aviation,..
we offered free rides to all the students that had an interest.
I had donated a composite bi plane to the town of Newport which was mounted on car springs in the town park for the kids to play on, in the spring of the year we put on a little air show for the locals ,,with candy drops for the kids ,.all motivated to keep aviation alive in the community.
