Flying off my Phase 1 hours and did my first cross country yesterday. Fuel flow rates were showing 8 gallons per hour at 5100 rpm and 2500 feet.
That seemed really high and did not match what was left in the tanks vs what the totalizer said should be there.
Just looking for some data points from other flyers.

Thanks

What avionics are you using? Yeah 8 gallons per hour isn’t correct. You are going to need to calibrate your fuel flows. I keep a log in the plane to get fuel flows dialed in. Have mine setup to within .2 gallons accuracy over 30 gallons of burn.

I'm using a G3X. My engine is an Edge 914Ti.
Thanks for the reply. Should be able to get everything dialed in but wanted to see what numbers others were getting.
Will have to look at the K factor and adjust.

If you have a fuel return line, you need a sensor on that line to "credit back" unburned fuel returned to the tank. This of course also will depend on if where your fuel flow sensor is positioned. If it is after the return line that would not affect the reading.. but, it your flow sensor is reading all fuel from the tank and not subtracting the fuel sent back to the tank via the return line, you will have that high and inaccurate reading.

(I hope this makes sense)

Yes, there are two sensors, one on each side of that loop, that should add back the fuel return.
I should have some time this week to figure it out.
Just didn't now what the normal amount of fuel usage to expect.

Yes adjust your k factor. Mine was the other way so I had to lower the k factor to get it accurate. (I actually burned more fuel than the computer was reporting) Many things effect this. I replaced a fuel line because a fitting was leaking and just putting a new fuel line had to adjust the k factor. I am at 67050 on the k factor. You are going to need to go the other direction though. Try 68500 and see where that puts you at. I just keep track of how much fuel I add to it, then fill it full to the exact same spot and see if it is accurate. I then right down and adjust the k factor. You should be able to get it accurate within .2 gallons. G3x has a fuel calibration feature under the fuel page but I just adjust using k factor because that feature just recently came out.

Thanks for the info.
One more question:. Does anyone have a fuel dipstick with graduated marks
? I've got one for my CTLSi which is pretty accurate.
