2 piece to 1 piece door skin question

For those of you that converted from the 2 piece door skin (acrylic on top and fiberglass on the bottom) to the single acrylic or lexan skin, did you keep the reinforcement strips? Are they needed?

This is how I built my doors, lexan top, bottom and center. 3 pieces. Works good for me. JImChuk

Kept them they come in handy to close the doors and mount stuff to!
