ACK ELT Battery

Went flying yesterday and my ELT is giving me a error of 3 beeps. Low RF power. Troubleshooting says to check the battery. Guessing I need to replace the battery. They are suppose to last 5 years? Anyone else battery life cut short?

I haven't heard of one not lasting to the expiration date unless it has been used. The cold temperatures will bring down the voltage. You are probably going to need a new battery.

The only other possibility I can think of is a poor connection/corrosion or disconnected cable to the antenna. Maybe that error could be caused by an internal problem with the ELT. It would be wise to contact ACK to ask them.

Okay I contacted manufacturer and was told I need to send it in.

Bummer, I would check all of the antenna connections and static suppressor before sending it off.

Yeah I unhooked everyone, reinstalled all of them and then tested and still failed with a 3 beep. Not my favorite elt.
