Would you post what you used to close out the holes in the bottom of the horizontal stabilizer.
Thanks

Harlan - here's how I did the deed.

Harlan,
Sorry for the hijack but that fabric wrap around on the hinge side of your horizontal stab, is that a finish tape or did you overlap the fabric that far?

That is the fabric overlap.

That is pretty slick Darrel, I like!

I always thought it was kind of weird that they got away from the covers in the new build manual?

It's a pretty big hole... draggy and a great place for wasps to build nests.

Here is the KF 5 manual solution. I bet you could add some nut plates and do something like this.

I just did mine yesterday and I used some cardboard templates to get them to fit right.

Having a Series 5 , that addressed this area as Jerrytex describes above, I find it very odd that the new builds leave this open or open to your imagination. This is an area that needs a easily removable cover because the hardware up there needs to be inspected and maintained during your condition inspection. I have also had to replace the stab rod end bearings so I would make it inspection friendly. Bruce N199CL

Very strange that they removed that cover plate from the plans, that makes absolutely zero sense since it is simple to
make, and works well.

Likely the kit is getting too easy to build, and they wanted to add some challenge ...

They could have made a lot more trouble for builders by simply removing the seatpan install from the instructions ... That
seems to be topic number one for the past 20 years .... :)
