I'm considering an upgrade to my cabane landing gear. (Or, as the English call it - the undercarriage - because they insist it is used for taking off as well. What do they know?) I'm looking for a spring/shock arrangement that works similar to the ones the really serious outback folks use - but I don't need nor want monster gear. I'm looking at the ones Acme Aero produces (saw at Sun n Fun) but haven't found any others to consider.

Is my search engine broken?

Does anyone have experience or knowledge with/of the Acme Aero gear?

Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks, Darrel

I don't know anything about the quality or function of Acme Aero's products, but it took me three tries to get them to respond with information about their offerings. At that time (4-6 months ago), they didn't have Kitfox gear legs available. As I recall, the price of their shocks would have made a complete system more expensive than a Shock Monster setup.

And the language you speak and type is called what?

Specifically it is Southern American (with a heavy influence of Texan) but, generically it is referred to as English, you know, the common language that separates America and England. But - it keeps us from quarreling with the French. :D

I don't know anything about the quality or function of Acme Aero's products, but...

Thanks Eric - I've not had any problem with getting Acme Aero to respond to my inquiries but have now dug deeper in the TK 1 (Shock Monster) website and discovered they sell just the spring/shock. I'll talk to them Monday and we'll see where the discussion goes.

did you come to any conclusion on the shock? i'm in the same boat only i'm building the cabane and legs. the Acme aero seems a little more simple which i appreciate because it doesn't need that reversing setup. Those shocks are real pricy though.

I ended up ordering a set of shocks from TK1 racing. Talked to Tony - very friendly and helpful. Should be here in 2 to 3 weeks.

Put 400 hours on TK1 shocks in the V last year.
They are going on the 7 for sure.

Thanks Jcard, glad to read the positive experience. For me it was pretty much a shot in the dark, an impulse purchase.

I believe beringer makes a nice set of what they call Alaska gear. If you are looking for an alternative they may be worth checking out. Looks like a nice system, but there prices may be high.

Look up John Roberts of AV Weld. He has a Kitfox gear and I have no issues with the gear I bought from him.
