I tape my elevator gap. I want to replace the tape but I have some residual tape glue. What's the best way to remove that without damaging the fabric/polytone paint?

Did you try C-2210 solvent from polyfiber. I use it gently on belly staining cleaning and have had good luck with it. You still won't be able to rub real hard or you'll see paint on your rag. Bruce N199CL

This sounds like a good product to use.

Do it slowly.
If you get a little color transfer to your cotton cloth, stop and let the PolyTone recover for a couple of days before starting again.
The C-2210 has to evaporate out of the finish and then it will be stable again.

This stuff is supposed to be safe for use on automotive paints for removing sticker residue. I would carefully test it, but if it works it's probably safer than a solvent that is known to melt Poly-Tone.

This is what I was using during the building and painting of the Skybolt.
All the fabric was coated with PolyFiber and PolyTone top coat.

M600,
The product is a good cleaner but mild on surfaces.
I had no issues. I didn't leave it dwell on the paint too long.
