I'm taking steps to acquire a Series 7 this year, and have made tentative arrangements with a builder on this site who aims to have his project done by early summer. In the meantime, I'm interested in learning all things KitFox, including looking at planes being built, flown, and owner maintenance (with a 912uls powerplant). Also, I'm not sure if there are any KitFox 'whisperers' in the area who have the background to evaluate a build for quality and airworthyness?

Currently, my 182T is based at KSAC, and I would like to visit those in the area who are willing to share. I'm scheduled to spend some time with Stick & Rudder Aviation in late March for owner type training.

You going to sell the 182?

I haven't yet decided to sell my 2003 182T. The 'problem' with it is it's a traveler, not a STOL plane. It has a relatively weak nose gear, and even with a set of VG's that reduce the power off stall speed to 34kts, it can get into places that are not easy to escape without an engine upgrade. So, we will see whether the Fox will do for all my missions, or if I'm going to have two in my stable. I'm not sure which way I will go, but I feel lucky to have options, and I did work my tail off in my career to get to this point.

Totally get it. I sold a 182 to buy the Kitfox. I'm itching for another traveling airplane and trying to justify 2 myself!

Wait till you can bid premium again and it will be easier to justify. :)

Back in days of old, when we wore brown shoes and the horses reins came up thu the side windows there was something called premium pay. Our wives would buy butter instead of churning it. We didn’t have to fill out home showers with little shampoo bottles. It was a grand time. One day it will return and you can buy your second, faster flying machine.

True story. Early in my regional days I saw a Captain get caught by a hotel's breakfast staff tipping a bowl of single-serve coffee creamers into his flight bag. Honest to God. Watching him blubber and cough while he tried to explain it is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

That would have been even better in this era of the cell phone video! I remember traveling in the Philippines back in the day when Rodney King got the stuffing beat out of him on camera by the police, and the joke there was, "Come to America and you will be treated like a king, Rodney King." I wonder if your Captain soiled himself as well?
