There are kits available to widen the cockpit area. It would be a big job though. Kitfox offers a door with a bulge in the shoulder area. They would give you a few extra inches. If you want to blow the doors off a Rans S7, the 912S is the only choice. Continentals and Lycomings will work in a model 4 but are way too heavy so you'll have to add weight to the tail to make c.g. A model 4 with a 912S is a "rocket ship" and even with a 912ul is no slouch. The Jabiru's are good and light but just wont perform like a 912. The Rotax 912 is the perfect engine for the Kitfox 4 thru 7. James Thomas

A 4 can not be made into a 5-7, it can have a shorter wing (search speedster in this group), the preferred engine is a Rotax 912S. Scan the forum and you will find many conversations that pertain to size, performance, fit and modifications. Are you thinking of buying a completed plane or a project?
