I know I read it in one of the posts but cannot seem to pull it up in search so I'll ask here. What are you G3X users using for a taxi cam?
Garmin wants me to use the ultra 30 or the Verb as you can control them from the GDU but tbh I don't want to spend that much. I just want to see the obstacle before I hit it. :)

Appreciate any input!

I’m pretty interested in what you come up with.

put your phone up on the dash and use the camera mode.
Here is a down side to using the VIRB. While the camera is connected to the G3X so that audio is captured in the video you are not able to supply power to the camera. I can manually turn the camera on and off with the switch. As a result my battery lasts a long time in record. As soon as I connect the camera and the G3X via the bluetooth, which enables me to operate the camera from my EFIS, the battery will die in about 20min. Doesn't much matter if I am recording or not. The bluetooth draws off the battery the entire time.

I have thought about doing this too. I think you could use almost any backup camera you want and adapt the video composite RCA connector to BNC. You can buy an adapter cable at Amazon or EBay.

Would a dash cam do the trick.

I'm planning on using an FPV camera to the G3X. Can hide almost anywhere.

I'm running the following on my SuperSTOL. Just a car backup camera split to feed both my G3x screens.

If I where currently building and planning on running an efis that can display camera I would put it in the right wing. The right side of the aircraft looking forward is the blind spot, if you fly from the left. Always worried about a pilot accidentally pulling out in front of me on the right side in my blind spot. Would be very helpful when landing off airport.

Great input guys, appreciate the response.

I want to keep the video line feed as short (light) as possible and not be a pita to install or replace if necessary.

At $24.00 plus a video composite RCA connector to BNC adapter, it's easy on the wallet. We shall see if it works out. :D

I don't have a picture on hand, but I used a simple reverse camera from aliexpress (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000231869319.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.45813 3a4I4pOE3&algo_pvid=aae45f4b-4509-45b1-93ba-65847cf7018e&algo_expid=aae45f4b-4509-45b1-93ba-65847cf7018e-4&btsid=0b0a555316105631596187502e78be&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb 201603_) and mounted it at the air inlet of the cowling behind the prop. You don't even notice it. Wired it to my VPX for power with a switch and to the G3x. Works great.
