One wing tip fits ok and the other is to large as pictured. The top will pull down with screws I think but the bottom is a 1/4'' gap. It is a stiff piece so I can't pull it that far with screws. How would you shrink this bottom to fit? Do I just cut foam out and glue it back? I was wondering it that would mess up the airflow?
Thanks for any input.

Should not be that far off IMO. Ours where a little off that we blended with some superfill. I would get in touch with Brandon and see what he advises.

Harlan, don't forget that after the wings are covered that area will have 2-3 layers of fabric/trim tape which will raise the upper surface of the wingtip quite a bit.

But the wing tips attach to aluminum strips attached to the bottom of the cap strips. They don't get covered, it says to install them after covering. If I push hard enough to make the fit they are totally distorted.

Harlan, Mine are also the same way. I Im using left over laker leading edge material to bridge the gap so it doesn't suck down like you mentioned

I covered my aluminum strips, mainly to bring the surface up so that the outside surface of the wingtips were flush with the outside surface of the covered wings. Anything to add thickness would work.

Thanks Loren, I was afraid it would stick up too much if I did that. It had crossed my mind.

Yeah, I honestly don't know how to bring that edge in uniformly. However, Kitfox is beta testing extended wing tips that mount differently than our current tips. Wondering if the molds are any better. I suppose another option is Hysol a 1" piece of left over laker edge on the adjacent capstrip to reduce the eyesore. That way the transition stepup is done over the width of 2 ribs and not so abruptly where it attaches.

Depending on what covering your doing would effect this more. I wanted both surfaces flush so that when oratex is on each surface they are both level. (no finish tap needed on the end with oratex) Can't tell from your pictures how far off but here is what I did. I used blue take to keep it off wing. Used the wing as a guide and used a ton of superfill, mostly because it forms good and is super light. Let it dry before removing and it gives you a nice clean line. Then tons of sanding.

Wow your wingtip was the low part. Mine needs filled on the covering side. Haven't heard back from Brandon yet. I think I can run a hot knife through the pink foam and make a slot to squeeze it back down.. maybe..

we are using oratex.

I keep hearing that. Maybe they will have new molds by then. Haha
