Hi guys, over the last few years, I've been working on a ground up restoration/rebuilding of a Kitfox 4 that I hauled up from Texas as a project about 6 years ago. Several other projects got in the way of working on this one as much as I meant to, but for the last month or so I've been building a new instrument panel and the wiring. Thank you to John and Lowell also for the assistance you both gave me. The alternator light goes out when it runs John. Engine is an older 912 that had some ignition issues when I got it, but I sorted them out and let it wait for me to be redy for it. Anyway, I drug it out of the garage today, and gave myself some encouragement, maybe it will fly in a month or so. Mostly have the windshield, doors, cowl, and some access panels to complete it. Hey Jim,

Congrats on the progress!:)

The restoration looks really good - clean work!

Always feels good to fire the engine up.

Nice work Jim. I'm starting on a rebuild of a Kitfox IV too and wondered what is the box built on the back side of the upper firewall for?

The box on the inside of the firewall is for the oil tank to sit in. If you use a smooth cowl, you go with a box in the firewall. I'm going as low as I can with the firewall, and instrument panel so I can see better over the front. I'm not a fan of the round cowl and the way it blocks the view. The depression for the starter was a miss mesurement. JImChuk
