I have spoke to the major, city council member and police officer. All have told me they don’t see a problem, but I don’t have written permission, only verbal. I am wanting to land at the city park which is just up the street so I can take my plane back to my shop to paint the cowl and do some work on it. Worried what the FAA would think about it. 1000’ of grass with 2000’ of clear approach path so it could be done safely. Anyone have experience landing on city property?

Get it is writing. And call the fsdo to ask.

Yeah not sure they will give it to me in writing......verbally only.

As much as I'd love to see you do it I think a flatbed trailer sounds like a much better idea.

Yeah thinking may not be best idea. Out of curiosity I am going to send the fsdo a message.

Even if the fsdo approves I wouldn't without it in writing from the council member, all you need is to have the cops called and he denies he ever gave you permission. Don't trust a politician.

Already spoke to the police and they are good with it. Honestly I am not worried about the city or local police. I am worried about some resident calling the FAA and reporting me, then the faa has to investigate. Last thing I need is a suspension while they investigate since I fly for a living. Because of that I think it’s best not to unless the fsdo approves it, which I think is very unlikely. No one is going to say approved because they are all trying to cover their butts.

I wouldn't be surprised if the FSDO approves. I would think they would make a phone call first. Arrangements like this are made all the time actually. As long as the property owner/manager approves it. Think of all the sky dive teams jumping into stadiums, media aircraft landing at schools, military aircraft landing for public display off airports etc etc. I absolutely get the skepticism though, especially yours Dustin. A career pause could be very costly. I think your FSDO would contact the city provided you give him the contact information. He certainly won't do any of the footwork himself. Good Luck.
