I am looking to buy an IVOProp for a 912-ULS motor. I think what I need is a medium 70" however, I have the tall grove gear so could use 72". Would that be advantageous? Also, how long of an extension would I need for this setup? I think a 2" but am not sure. As well, are there any recommendations for the spinner?

I haven't called IVO yet to get his input because I wanted to get some input from TeamKitfox first.
Thanks,
Fred

2” extension for Rotax engine with smooth cowl.

I’ve never owned a medium Ivo Fred so check with Ivo on recommended length for the 100 hp Rotax.
I’m flying behind a 72” Ivo ground adjustable lite right now.

The IVO medium has a backer plate that attaches to the prop flange on the engine, also the plastic and aluminum plates that provide electricity to the prop motor. Those pieces will put the prop blades at least an inch or more ahead of where say warp drive blades would be. Something to consider at least. If my memory is correct, the backer plate is 3/4" thick, and the thin plates are each 1/4". I do have a never used 70" three blade IVO medium for sale, but it's a left hand, so oposite of what you need on the 912. JImChuk

PS I should have read the original post better to start with, you didn't say you were getting an electric inflight adjustable. The ground adjustable prop still uses the backer plate on the prop flange, but doesn't use the two 1/4" rings or plastic insulater plates between them.

The 70" 3 blade medium IVO is the right prop for the 912 ULS.

I used one for a good 400+ hours.

I added the IFA to it and the Murle Williams through the gearbox, brushes and electrical contacts. A very decent setup.

What model kitfox is this for?

It is a KF5. I'll check with Murle.

What spinner is that in your pics? I'd like to get something like that. Who was your vendor for that?
Thanks.

It is a UHS fiberglass spinner and back plate.

I sent you a private message.

If you haven’t found what you’re looking for I have a IVO 70” ground adjustable with spacer and aluminum spinner I’d sell. I’m unsure of what it’s worth.

Carlos,

I put a 75" Airmaster on last year. The IVO had 300 hours on it.

I've got an IVO Medium ground adjustable, three bland with a UHS spinner, I would sell. Pulled for an upgrade, 473 hours.

Tom, I wonder what's your choice for the upgrade

I'm very happy with the IvoProp setup and props can be one of the most difficult decisions to make. Good comparative testing is almost non existent (several props used on the same aircraft under like conditions and results posted). Selection often comes down to personal preferences...

One consideration is a personal wish for a scimitar shape with hopes of a lower noise signature.... my main goal to to have a lower total weight, and lowering the Mass moment of inertia (hope I got the term right). Long store short my engine rebuilder expressed concern in this area and so I'm looking. In the end I may make no change, because of the things mentioned.

I recently experienced a ground-loop. I am now in the other group of those that have. . . in the end, I nosed over and the prop struck the dirt. I was at full idle and the prop and I was using an IvoProp. The prop seemed to give way in that it did not break but twisted and absorbing the energy. The dial-micrometer showed no deviation on the prop hub from zero (whew). It appears that this was a category one strike as defined by the following document.27540

I've already obtained replacement blades. I'm sticking with the IvoProp because the infrequency of major damage related to this prop. I'm sure there has been. I just haven't heard of any.

Hi, did you ever sell this prop? I’m interested and live in Meridian.
