Can someone tell me the difference in size from the earlier model 5 elevator and the model 7? I want to confirm that I have what I believe is the earlier model. I measured 14.5" from the leading edge to the trailing edge at its widest point.

Thanks

I have a series 6 with the speedster rudder (airfoil ribs and a curved fiberglass leading edge) which I believe is the same as the series 7 rudder and the dimension at the widest part is 20 1/4".

Sorry about any confusion about my rudder dimension earlier. I've been working on mine all day and had "rudder" on the brain and you wanted elevator dimensions. My elevator width at the widest spot is 14.5", not including the tabs for the pivot bushings.

Hi Mike,
Did you end up modifying your elevator?
If so how did you do it?
I am building a KF5 outback tail dragger and have the same issue with the elevator. Or at least from what i have read here on this forum that the the original FX5 elevator is to small.
Been thinking of making it larger by adding about 3 inches by welding on an extension.
Would like to know what you decided to do with yours.
Thanks,

I ordered one from Kitfox along with the "speedster" ribs for both the elevator and H-Stab. I've been told they will be fabricated and shipped in early Jan.
