I swear...there is just something about the KF V that just rings my bell...I know the 6 and 7 are almost the same plane but every KF V I see gets me drooling...so what is it?

To start, it may be the door. I kind like the half door myself. Not even certain that its the V or the IV that has the half door to be honest.

My outback kit has the fiberglass lower door half. I dont think I'll use it - I want the added preferential view for landing and of course view in flight.

They all look pretty darn similar though. The engine is further back in the 5, so it does have a slightly shorter nose - more proportional to a standard cub IMHO.
Looks like most current 7's have a sharp upper rudder edge while the 5 is rounded. Do see some 7's though with it rounded.

The 7 Super Sport has the sharp rear corner, while the 7 has the rounded one.

When John M restarted the company, the rudder top was changed to the square edge to differentiate, in a subtle but notable way, from the kits manufactured by the previous company that went pffffft. S7's had been manufactured for a few years before that so just think of the squared off rudder top defining kits manufactured by the current company that John owns and operates.

If it's a square top....John did it:)

The first one I built. Opted for full length doors.

Okay, maybe it isn't the door. It has to be the engine cowl then. Phi's profile shot really shows how neat that plane looks with that style cowl. If I were more adventuresome, I would use a Lycoming style cowl on my Rotax engine. I like the way it looks. I wasn't about to take on a fiberglass job like others have done to fit a custom cowl.

Yes Eddie you are right about the cowl on the Outback , nice and wide to accomodate the larger in width engines like my Continental IO-240. I always thought from the front they look like a mini Cessna 180-185. Bruce N199CL

Agreed. I always thought the proportions were very nice.
