The Kitfox iv speedster is my favorite airplane of them all. I would love to build one. Where could i find a unfinished kit?

This is not a WTB post! Just need some advice on how and where to get one!

Finding a new unfinished Model 4 Speedster is going to be difficult. I got lucky and found mine on Barnstormers several years ago.

As far as I know they still sell the model 4. Mostly to Europe but I think you can still order one. Call the factory!

Says classic 4 but I don't know why you couldn't shorten the wings and add the wood pieces into make the aerodynamic shape. Just call the factory and ask. I'm sure if that if they can make it happen they will.

Sure, that might work out. I wonder if there is wing plans for the iv speedster so I could construct my own. If so, I just need a fuselage.

There are probably no un-started Model 4 kits out there anymore, it's just been too many years since they were superseded by the newer, larger models.
I got my un-started kit for cheap from a widow, but it was a few years back. Also note, the model 4 came in a 1050lbs and 1200 lbs gross version, and the
1200 lbs model goes for a premium over the 1050 lbs. However, you might be able to find a run-down, previously flying model 4-1200 in bad shape, or wind damaged. One ready for recovering, and an engine/instrument overhaul, but otherwise has solid bones.
When you recover the plane, you could add the speed mods easy enough at that time. A guy in our builders group just got a Avid flyer model C for just $4500. ready to fly, but more ready to restore......
Hope this helps
Roger

Yes I might try that.
