Converting model 7 Tri-gear to a tail wheel. Have Grove aluminum gear, which I plan on keeping, and the wheels I’m thinking about for the mains are in the mid— 20” tires ( most likely the Aero Classic 8.50x6 tundra - not big$$). Now would would you prefer putting on an 8” or 10” tail wheel??

I have the 8” ABI 3200 on a T3 tailspring. Awesome setup for me.

I have a model 4 with 22" Desser's and the Matco WHLT-8PL tailwheel. It's a huge improvement over the original Maul. I think this one is the same except for the wider tire. I'd probably get this one if I had to do again. http://www.matcomfg.com/TAILWHEEL8PNEUWIDE-idv-3690-13.html

I have the tires you mention and the tailwheel setup that GuppyWN mentions. I like but I have nothing else to compare it too except what Stick and Rudder uses. They have 26" tires. I like the 22". I haven't really taken them onto unimproved strips though.

I use a double fork Matco I think this the part number WHLT-8LD. I like it, but have no other experience to gauge it from... The T3 sure beats the spring.

What’s your Opinion on Beringer,s new locking tail wheel assembly.

I don’t see the need for a locking tailwheel on a Kitfox but I’ve also never flown one.
