In 1970 Utah's Spiral Jetty was built by hand. Located on a remote northeast section of shoreline of the Great Salt Lake, it is the work of one man, Robert Smithson. He constructed it out of mud, salt crystals, basalt rock, earth and water. It is 1,500 feet long and 15 feet wide.

Shortly after construction, the Great Salt Lake rose and covered the jetty. It remained unseen for three decades and re-emerged again in 2004 during a drought. It can only be seen during low water times.

So . . . I just had to take a flight today and shoot some photographs of it. Here is the link if you would like to ride along.
