I found some giant safety pins at McMaster Carr. Sorry I do not remember the size. They do work fine as hinge pins and are fairly easy to remove.

That's the best answer so far!
I placed a McMaster Carr order for 900026A104. I'll let you know if they fit.
Hi guys
I have been using "R pins" in my Vixen for over 5 years. They are very easy to remove and reinstall. Should be available in most in most hardware supply stores. Google them.
Cheers
Don
Ah why didn't I think of that...so simple.
As it has been 13 years now I am just remembering that I did need to trim a bit off the hook that reaches around the hinge pin part in order to get it hooked.
I like the R pins but my compulsiveness would require me to bend it such that the pointy end would lock behind the hinge barrel. I know they would likely never depart the plane but the consequences of a door hitting the tail. Ouch.

Esser, I'm going with Maxwell's style of pin. The R type aren't as secure and they will scratch the hinge upon removal.
