    Default First Flight

    Hello Everybody,
I'm very happy to announce that yesterday morning (3/25) I flew my Kitfox for the first time. A short flight circling Arthur Dunn Airpark in Titusville, Florida. Every thing went very well.

Follow the link below for a quick and dirty edit of video from the flight.

The video taken from the ground was shot by my wife, Linda, with a small point and shoot camera. That's why it's a little unsteady.

The video from the cockpit was shot with my GoPro.

You'll notice that I turned off the sound during the first part of the flight. The AOA sensor is not calibrated and it was sounding the alarm. I didn't hear it at first because I hadn't pushed the noise cancellation button on my headset. When a friend called me from the ground I realized my mistake and corrected it. That's when I heard the sound and turned down the volume.

You'll notice at about 1,200 ft I flew into a layer of smoke. There was a brush
    fire somewhere.

Well done Tom! Nice that you had those Egrets trained to fly away from the runway rather than across your path. I've mentioned before, but I'll repeat again, how helpful your build site has been to me during my build. Super happy for you having made that first flight.
I think I had visited your airport many years ago when I was TDY at the Cape. It appears to be in far, far better condition than what I remember.
    Wishing you happy skies.

Thank you very much. Yes, Dunn Airpark is looking quite a bit better. It's a haven for home builders.

Congratulations Tom. Been worrying about you, but glad all is well. Your build site was the first one I reviewed back in 2011 when I started my build; has been most helpful as others have said.
