Default 582 coolant filler neck finish question

The coolant filler neck on my 582 was a greenish bird poop colored mess. I cleaned it up at work and was wondering if I should paint it, let it patina, or clear coat the darn thing. I don't know if Krylon clear will take the heat. It sure is prettier than it was before.

Wow! That's what they look like? I've been pretty happy with my greenish one. Function over form. Since you've done all that work I'd vote for the clear coat.

Would be a shame to paint it,just give it an occasional clean with an oily rag.
It wil patina but look good for years, mine is 3 years and looking good.
Cut a couple of rings of old radiator hose and slide on to the ends were it clamps to the bracket,no fretting or electrolysis

I even splurged the $4 for a new cap!
