Default Sight gauge aluminum tube loose

I have a leak in the place where the aluminum tube goes into the tank on my model III on the left wing. The tube seems loose. It had some gray looking rubber compound around it helping hold the tube to the tank. I used a Dremel to remove all the gray rubber. I feel like I should use some Fiberglas resin or epoxy to reinforce this tube. Any suggestions?

Try a fuel proof epoxy(fuel tank repair kit?) if all else fails, convert to a grommet and barb setup.

I have had the same leak at my left wing tank (Aluminium).
I removed the tank and let the tank welded by an Aluminium welder.

Bear-perkins offers a sight guage which consists of grommet fittings and a sight tube that has an orange pill which floats at fuel level. I've seen this on PPC's and works quite well. Seems a little pricey at about $50 but high functioning. The grommets need a 1/2" hole to seal up properly.
